On behalf of the RMA New England Board of Directors, please join us for our first in-person event of 2023. This highly-anticipated conversation will feature Chief Credit Officers Mike Bonsey of Cambridge Savings Bank, Katie O’Malley of Rockland Trust, and Dan Sullivan of Eastern Bank. The wide-ranging discussion will cover a variety of issues and challenges facing the Commercial Banking industry in 2023 and beyond. The panel event will be moderated by Giulio Camerini of Crowe, and will be followed by a networking reception.

Panelists:

Michael Bonsey, SVP, Chief Credit Officer, Cambridge Savings Bank

Michael Bonsey joined Cambridge Savings Bank in 2021 as Chief Credit Officer, bringing 35 years of commercial banking experience. He embodies the bank’s approach of treating every customer as the only customer. His role at CSB is to maintain the standing of the bank’s credit portfolio, continue the development of its credit policies and procedures, and uphold the quality of the lending portfolio. In addition, he is also an executive sponsor to the bank’s Black Employee Network (BEN) Employee Resource Group (ERG).

Prior to CSB, he was an Executive Vice President at Leader Bank, N.A. and at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Company. Michael has 3 daughters and now resides in Reading MA with his wife Diane. He also serves a Board Member and Treasurer for the Rotary Club in Reading.

Katie O’Malley, Chief Credit Officer, Rockland Trust

Katie O’Malley is the Chief Credit Officer, SVP of Rockland Trust. She has over 35 years of experience in commercial banking, having been a lender in C&I, CRE and Construction, and a consultant with various regional banks before joining Rockland Trust permanently in September 2009. She currently oversees commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management teams that work directly with lenders, she has responsibility for credit administration, inclusive of due diligence groups such as; appraisal, environmental, credit documentation, Loan Policy, as well as the Special Assets team. She also has oversight of Retail Collections, and consumer credit. She holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Boston College, and a Bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College.

Dan Sullivan, Chief Credit Officer, Eastern Bank

Dan Sullivan is Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of Eastern Bank. In his role, Dan oversees all Corporate credit division including credit risk management, commercial underwriting, Managed Assets, Default management and Portfolio analytics for the bank.

He serves as chair of the Credit Policy and Credit Committee, where credit policies are approved, and larger credit requests are decided. In addition, he oversees all loan portfolio reviews.

Prior to joining Eastern Bank in 1996 as head of the Managed Assets Group, Sullivan was a vice president at Shawmut Bank, where he had experience in loan workout and as a commercial relationship manager.

Sullivan is an active member of the Risk Management Association (RMA), at the national level and is certified by the RMA in credit risk management.

Sullivan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Lowell.

Moderator:

Giulio Camerini, Principal, Crowe

A regulatory compliance leader focused on client service, Mr. Camerini works closely with financial institution boards of directors, audit committees, and management teams to assess areas of concern, emerging issues, and complex regulatory situations. Through his career, Mr. Camerini has had the unique opportunity to serve and consult with over 700 financial institutions across the US, including banking institutions, credit unions, farm credit associations, and insurance companies. These organizations have a range starting with de novo to organizations with assets exceeding $100 billion USD. Prior to joining Crowe, Mr. Camerini worked within large regional financial institutions, including ABN AMRO LaSalle Bank n/k/a Bank of America and Fifth Third Bank, providing commercial credit analysis and loan review for a wide range of clients within these banking institutions
